Reading the Market Flow board in five minutes
Breadth, sector rotation, money-flow lines and the strength score: what each part of the board tells you, top to bottom.
Last updated 9 October 2026
The Market Flow board answers one question: where is money moving today, and how convincingly? Read it top to bottom.
1. Breadth: is the whole market being bought or sold?
The strip at the top places every stock by how much it has moved today, from −4% to +4%. The counters show how many are up and how many are down. A market where 150 of 200 stocks are rising is a different place from one where the index is up but only half the stocks are.
The rings on the strip are sectors, and the labels point to the leading and lagging sector.
2. Sector ladder: where is money rotating?
Sectors are ranked from strongest to weakest by their average move. The striped bar under each one shows the share of its stocks that are rising. A sector up 1% with 9 of 10 stocks rising has broad support; one up 1% because a single heavyweight jumped does not. Click a sector to see only its stocks.
3. Money-flow lines: how did each stock get here?
Each line is one stock’s path since 09:15, green if it is up, red if down. The vertical scale stretches where stocks are crowded, so the dense band around zero stays readable. Look for paths that trend steadily versus ones that spiked and faded.
4. Strength: which moves are convincing?
Each stock gets a 0–100 strength score that blends:
- Move size against its own usual daily range. 2% in a slow stock counts for more than 2% in a volatile one.
- Volume against normal for this time of day.
- Where it trades in its day’s range, near the high for a riser and near the low for a faller.
- VWAP hold: how much of the session it has stayed above (or below) the day’s average traded price.
- Open interest: for F&O stocks, whether futures positions are being opened in the same direction.
The bar column next to the lines shows every stock’s score; brackets mark the 20 strongest on each side.
5. Leaderboards: the strongest 20 each way
Bigger cards are higher ranks. Each card shows a volume profile (how much traded at each price, split into buying and selling), the day’s order blocks and the current price. A filled S means the stock is moving with its sector; hollow means alone. SW↑ / SW↓ flags a recent liquidity sweep. Hover any card for a plain-English summary, or click it to open the stock.
A good habit
Before looking at any single stock, read breadth and the sector ladder. A strong stock in a strong sector in a rising market has the wind behind it; the same chart against a falling market is a different trade. That context is what the board is for.
